Based in the village of Alrewas near Lichfield in Staffordshire, the club focuses on the younger footballers (both boys and girls) in the community and relies heavily on volunteers to give the kids from the village and surrounding areas access to this wonderful game. The club is always interested in new members and support. A football club has existed in Alrewas since 1868 and has been running ever since; in fact a good number of current residents are able to trace their families back to the original members. Minutes from the early 1900s are still kept to this day and make interesting reading. Over the course of time, as you would expect, the club has seen many changes. In more recent times Alrewas Colts FC came under the stewardship of Mr John Cooper and Mr Chris Hall, with whom we still maintain contact. The club really started to grow in 1997 when a team was entered in the Burton Junior League. This season (2006/07) sees the club running teams at U10, U11, U13 & U18) in both the Burton and Lichfield Leagues. There have been a number of successes during the clubs history, more recently with an U11 side winning the Burton Divisional Cup in 2001, U9s winning the Lichfield district league in 2004 and U9s winning the Burton Cup in 2005. The club tries to be self supporting but has benefited from many generous sponsors over the years and would like to thank them all. |
